Creating media gives children the opportunity to compose their own messages using a combination of texts, sounds, images, and motion. When children understand how messages are constructed, they can begin to ask questions and think critically about the messages they receive through media everyday. Media literacy education gets kids thinking... "Who created this message and why?"  Was this message designed to inform, entertain, and/or persuade me to take some kind of action? Screen Savvy Kids develop critical cognitive and social skills that are essential to living a fulfilling and successful life (both on and off the screen) in the 21st Century.

In addition to children's media workshops, SSK offers at home services and presentations for parents so that they may gain access to the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions about the role of media in their family's life. SSK also offers trainings for teachers to those interested in integrating media literacy tools and techniques in their classrooms. If you don't see something here that meets your needs, contact me directly and I am happy to customize a workshop or presentation for you!
